Finding Success with the MBA
Pursuing a Master's of Business Administration (MBA) degree provides people with the skills that are crucial for success in the work force. Students who receive their MBA are more qualified for positions in the business world because they will have gained business, technical, and personal skills that are vital to the industry today.

In today's highly competitive commerce world, employees look for ways to give them the extra 'edge' that will help them rise to the forefront of their company. An MBA degree takes them there by providing challenging core and specialized courses that further develop their skills.

Knowing about one area of business can limit opportunities. A specialized degree offers the possibility of new skills and more perspective. A student pursuing their MBA specializes in a functional area of business and takes a broad range of courses that augment their education.

A range of topics essential to businesses today are taught, including economics, marketing, accounting, finance, strategy, operations management, international business, information technology management, project management and ethics. By learning the fundamentals, employees will be able to approach problems from a variety of angles and recognize how each part should be approached to create solutions for the whole.

Today, knowing about the latest advancements in technology is not just trendy, but critical to the non-stop pace of the national and international business world. Those who recognize that using technology for obvious and not-so-obvious areas of commerce for solutions can help advance a company in new and exciting ways.

MBA courses seek to engage students with these skills by simulating real situations. Students will become not just familiar with the tools, but eager to experiment with them to see what new uses they can be applied to.

Business projects are as successful as the people who run them. Rarely do people work alone on projects, so good 'people skills' are important for successful projects and for advancement. Learning the skills and the philosophy behind them help students recognize the healthy and problematic working relationships that exist.

Group work is common in MBA courses. Working with a team, learning about conflict resolution, or taking the lead in a project - all present in real business situations - are frequent elements in MBA courses.

Education in business today has high standards, and students expect these programs to provide more than static lessons. Students expect a dynamic, caring, personalized learning environment where they learn fundamentals as well as new developments in business; they expect group problem solving, computer simulations, and casework; they expect their degree to be a highlight of their resume. Motivated students realize that such a degree will help them to achieve their goals in their professional life and that the skills they acquire will apply not only to their jobs, but also to many aspects of their life. An MBA offers people the ability to move with confidence in the world and present themselves as a leader in their work and in their life.
