Being Honest About Your Salary History
Classified ads will often ask you to include a salary history (or salary requirements) in your response. This is a tricky situation for job hunters.

If you're responding to an ad, you can omit salary history, but keep in mind you're risking not getting an interview. If you do reveal your salary history, be honest. It's easy to check.

If your current salary is below average for the industry or if you think it might raise questions, steer the discussion to the job's market value rather than your current salary. And if you're so interested in the job that you're willing to take a pay cut, let the interviewer know you are open to negotiation.
