Benefits of MBA programs include access to research

Posted on 8/30/2010
Jobseekers who wish to gain an edge over their competitors may want to consider enrolling in business school, as their MBA tuition could end up paying for more than a degree.

Individuals who choose to enroll in full- or part-time MBA programs may be among the first to benefit from research that examines the best way to boost a career, such as the initiatives that were recently completed by business experts at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management.

The Associated Press reports that researchers found that professionals who can supplement their credentials with flattering behavior may be more likely to get ahead in their industries than individuals who do not. Underrepresented workers, such as women and minorities, appeared to reap the most benefits from efforts to compliment their superiors.

Employees who were able to disguise their flattery in questions, shared values or indirect communication were the most likely to receive their bosses' favor, according to the study.

MBA degree holders who are able to adopt these techniques may be qualified for high-paying positions. According to PayScale.com, a research company, professionals who hold this certification typically earn between $51,409 and $220,053 per year.ADNFCR-2969-ID-19933331-ADNFCR
