Full- and part-time MBA programs teach communication skills
While there are many benefits of an MBA program, some business analysts believe that these courses of study are not comprehensive enough to help graduates succeed in the real world. As a result, many schools of management are adding new facets to their masters-level offerings.
For instance, Chatham University recently began integrating communication skills into its MBA program, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Although traditional teachings – such as case study analysis and accounting – can prove useful in the workforce, many business schools do not give students the skills they will need to prevail in spur-of-the-moment situations. As a result, Chatham has begun to offer classes that address negotiation, persuasion, innovative thinking and entrepreneurship.
In addition, many other business schools are increasing their online offerings in an effort to help busy students access higher education.
Students and working adults who choose to earn a masters degree could have higher earnings in the long term, as the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that professionals who have this qualification have the potential to earn more than $1,200 per week.
