Green MBA programs can help students launch their own businesses

Posted on 6/30/2010
As the demand for green products and services continues to grow, many individuals are looking to use the benefits of an MBA to take advantage of this emerging market by starting their own businesses.

In an effort to help these individuals get their ideas off the ground, The University of California at Davis Center for Entrepreneurship is hosting a Green Technology Entrepreneurship Academy, which will enable attendees to network with small business owners who have launched successful ventures in the green sector.

The speaking lineup will include John Bissell, an alumnus of the university's business school and owner of Micromidas, an eco-friendly plastic manufacturer.

Program participants will also hear from faculty members, potential investors and researchers. In addition, researchers, engineers and business students who attend the event will be able to network with one another.

Andre Hargadon, director of the school's Center for Entrepreneurship, said that the program's primary goal is to "foster these network relationships connecting researchers with investors, big companies, utilities and the public sector."

Since its inception four years ago, this annual event has attracted more than 400 representatives of various environmentally conscious industries, including technology, food and health. ADNFCR-2969-ID-19867582-ADNFCR
