MBA program integrates technology education

Posted on 10/1/2010
As new computer systems continue to emerge, employers are increasingly seeking college graduates with training in technology. Professionals who hold an MBA degree and are computer-savvy may have the best job opportunities.

Schools such as the University of Scranton are launching degree programs with a focus on technology. The institution recently announced that it will add a specialization in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) to its online MBA program.

ERP is a software system that can integrate a company's core functions to help it become more efficient and competitive. It is quickly being adopted by businesses around the world. Forrester Research projects ERP will command a $50 billion global industry over the next two years.

"ERP systems are becoming an integral part of the way business is done today," said Michael Mensah, dean of Kania School of Management. "By combining the advanced business knowledge of an MBA with training in the implementation, use and applications of these systems, business professionals can be in a prime position to make exceptional improvements in efficiency and performance at their organizations."

The specialization is designed for business professionals who are looking to boost their careers.
