New business school offerings could boost MBA careers

While there are many benefits of an MBA - including increased professional value and the potential to earn a higher salary - the popularity of this degree has increased over the past few years. As a result, many employers are now looking for applicants who can supplement this qualification with additional credentials.
For example, a great deal of companies are now seeking business professionals who have technical skills. In response to this trend, some schools of management are tweaking their programs in an effort to improve their graduates job prospects.
Emporia State University is one of these institutions, as enrollees in the schools MBA program can now pick up a concentration in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, The Emporia Gazette reports.
ERP, which is currently being used by businesses across the globe, combines a companys financial, accounting, customer and manufacturing data. Because similar programs could make an organizations operations more efficient, professionals who are able to use them may be able to negotiate higher salaries with their current or prospective employers.
According to PayScale.com, a research company, MBA degree holders have the potential to earn six-figure salaries.
