Theology graduate schools increase online offerings

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that there are various theology career opportunities for graduates of master's programs in related fields. Although religious organizations are the most common employers of these professionals, these degree holders may also find jobs with elementary and secondary schools, institutions of higher learning, the federal government or individual and family service providers.

In addition to this array of professional options, current and prospective religious workers have a great deal of convenient and flexible ways to gain the education they will need to enter or move up in their field. In fact, some schools are making their graduate programs in related areas even more accessible to various groups of students.

For instance, the Loyola Institute for Ministry recently announced the launch of two web-based master's programs. Enrollees are now able to complete 36-hour courses of study in either religious education or pastoral studies.

Individuals who choose to enter similar programs are likely to study a great deal subjects in the field, including youth ministry, parish life and administration, Hispanic ministry, spirituality, religion and ecology.
