University expands online master’s degree options

Posted on 9/2/2010
Many universities are expanding their online course options in an effort to provide access to advanced education to a growing number of nontraditional degree seekers. These initiatives accommodate those who are unable to attend a traditional classroom-based school due to day jobs, children or other personal responsibilities.

For example, Friends University recently announced that it will offer three new fully online programs, which have been designed to meet the needs of adult students. The school will provide students with online master's degrees in teaching, business administration (MBA) and information systems. The graduate teaching program is for current educators who wish to expand their skills in the practical application of classroom learning-teaching skills.

The MBA was designed to prepare students for responsible positions of professional leadership in the business environment or in related organizations. Students who are enrolled in the information systems (IS) program focus on the strategic role IS plays in a business organization with emphasis on current research activities in the field.

According to a recent Babson-Sloan report, one in four students are currently enrolled in at least one online course.ADNFCR-2969-ID-19935385-ADNFCR
