Overview

The University of Michigan - Flint (UM-Flint) is one of three campuses in the University of Michigan system. UM-Flint graduate students pursue nearly 30 program options in the liberal arts and in a number of pre-professional and professional fields. The university’s more than 400 faculty members are devoted to a high standard of excellence in teaching, and the knowledge, skills, and talents of 350 full-time staff members contribute to the success of UM-Flint and the surrounding community.

Online Study

Several programs are available online: Computer science and information systems (MS), business administration (MBA), educational administration (MPA), technology in education (MA), nursing (DNP), and transitional DPT (t-DPT). Most programs are designed for the working professional, with evening classes and degrees that can be completed in two years of part-time study. Tuition and fees are lower than at most peer institutions

Location

  • UM-Flint’s campus is situated on 76 acres (51 south of the Flint River and 25 north) in the heart of downtown Flint.
  • Eight academic buildings with a combined size of 850,000 square feet blend the latest technologies with traditional university amenities. Major buildings on campus include the Frances Thompson Library and the theater. 
  • Skywalks connect most campus buildings, making travel between buildings more accessible for the physically challenged.
  • In fall 2008, a 310-bed residential hall opened on campus, changing the university from a commuter campus to a residential one.
