Why UC?

The Graduate School of Business at the University of Charleston focuses on providing students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes they need to succeed in today’s fast-changing business world.

Housed in the Equities House in downtown Charleston, the Graduate School of Business takes advantage of its location in the center of the city’s business district to involve CEOs, CFOs, and other top-level executives from national, regional, and local firms in the educational process—as speakers, mentors, and experiential placement supervisors. Students focus on real-world problems and gain workplace experience throughout their programs.

Our Degree Offerings

The Graduate School of Business offers three master’s degrees: Master of Business Administration and Leadership (MBAL), Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA), and Executive Master of Forensic Accounting (EMFA).

The MBAL is a full-time program designed primarily for students moving directly to graduate school from an undergraduate program. The MBAL program employs problem-based approaches in the classroom coupled with continuous professional practice opportunities, preparing students for a life of leadership and challenging work in a rapidly changing global economy. To learn more about the MBAL program, please visit our student blog.

The EMBA and EMFA are executive programs designed to provide opportunities for working professionals to work on advanced degrees. The 15-month programs use a modular structure, only requiring students to meet every other weekend. In between meeting sessions students communicate electronically among themselves and with faculty.

Non-Degree Certificate Options

The Graduate School of Business also offers two non-degree certificate programs: Accredited Fraud Investigator Certificate (AFI) and Executive Certificate in Financial Planning (CFP).
