Transform Your Life
Black Hills State University, a comprehensive university located in the Black Hills of South Dakota, will transform your life through innovative, high-quality academic programs and a dynamic learning community. Through innovative instruction, mentoring, research, and service, BHSU develops graduates who compete effectively in the dynamic global environment.
A Two-Year Commitment…A Lifetime of Opportunities
The MBA program in applied management at BHSU is designed specifically for managers and professionals and will be delivered face-to-face in Rapid City, the second-largest city in South Dakota. To accommodate employed students, all classes will be delivered in the evening, after business hours.
Although all MBA courses will be taught in the classroom, most will include an online component. The MBA in applied management will consist of 36 graduate-level contact hours (12 courses) followed by a three-credit supervised practicum/internship.
You’ll enter the MBA program with 25 other graduate students who will each bring unique contributions to the classroom community.
The Power of Place
The BHSU experience goes beyond the classroom. The MBA program provides exceptional networking and experiential learning opportunities as you work with business leaders in South Dakota's second largest city.
Exciting things are happening in our region. The former Homestake Gold Mine, just 20 minutes from our Spearfish campus and less than an hour from Rapid City, was recently chosen as the site for the world-class Sanford Underground Science and Engineering Laboratory (SUSEL). The lab is already providing exceptional active learning opportunities for our students and is generating new science- and technology-based business enterprises.
Learn from the Best
Our business faculty not only transform lives…they also transform the world. The faculty for the MBA program have been hand-picked to ensure you receive academic and professional success. You’ll learn from faculty who hold the highest degrees in their fields and have real-world experience starting new business ventures, serving as business consultants, operating their own businesses, or running large corporations as upper-level managers.
To teach in the MBA program, a faculty member must have an earned doctorate related to the coursework they teach and a history of sustained intellectual contributions within their discipline. Each faculty member is classified under the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) standards as academically qualified to teach graduate business administration.
